Cisco Australia Camino2025

By Cisco Camino2025

I've created this page because I want to help protect nature and our planet!

This Summer, a group of Cisco employees from various countries will to the Camino from June 23rd to 27th, while raising funds to fight climate change.

We have a solo traveler from Cisco Australia who is fundraising for WWF Australia to support their vital efforts in protecting biodiversity. WWF works across nearly 100 countries collaborating with local communities to conserve the natural resources we all depend on and build a future in which people and nature thrive, transforming markets and policies toward sustainability, tackling the threats driving the climate crisis, and protecting and restoring wildlife and their habitats.

Your contribution can help combat climate change, protect endangered species, and promote sustainable solutions for a healthier planet.

The final Day

Sunday 29th Jun
The final day was just lovely. A long tiring slog but was well worth it.

Thank you very much for all that have donated and making this a possibility.

Day 5

Friday 27th Jun
Today was a hard day for many reasons. We stayed in a hostel. War farm fields so my hay fever played up. That resulted in me snoring very loadly and several people in the hostel hitting me in my sleep (not very nice). We woke and walked the first 4 hours in drizzle. It was a long day. Total of 30km. The iPhone and watch both lost battery before we completed the hike. But only one more day to go. Push on for a 25km closer and we are done.

See photos for day 5. Not so many taken as a tough day.

Day 4

Thursday 26th Jun
Started off with 4km up hill which was fun. The rest was through dairy farm land which was lovely. All in all a decent day but quite long. Warm up for tomorrow.

Day 3

Tuesday 24th Jun
A semi rest day with only 14 required. Was through small towns and gum tree forests.

Resting up for tomorrow which is a mountain climb over 30km.

All safe and happy

Day 2 completed

Tuesday 24th Jun
What was meant to be a mild 13km turned into a 20km. Was pleasant through country feilds. A few photos shared below.

Thanks

Day 1 complete

Monday 23rd Jun
A lovely walk from Muxia to Lires. Rough start to the hike with mainly up hill but all in all a lovely warm up day.

Church at Muxia is lovely.

The walk begins

Sunday 22nd Jun
After 56 hours of travel to get here. The walk begins. The world is so small yet so large.

The Day has Arrived!

Thursday 19th Jun
A brief update.

Tomorrow marks the day that will commence the very long journey to get from Sydney to Muxia.

I will share update; most likely post the trip.

Thanks for all the support.

The route is set

Wednesday 7th May
A solo intrepid Cisco traveller and his companion have mapped the route to achieve the Finisterre Way in reverse from Muxia to Santiago.

The plan that we will achieve is the following.

Day 1: Muxia --> Lires.
   This should be a moderate 15km walk today, just to break the legs in.

Day 2: Lires --> Finisterre.
    Another stroll of 16km today. Hitting the costal town of Finisterre.

Day 3: Finisterre --> Cee
    The final of the break in days. This 15km hike gets about 1/3 the way to the town of Cee.

Day 4: Cee --> Abeleiroas
    Today is the first long hike. 25km which should be predominantly mostly up hill. This will be a good leg warmer for what comes the next day.

Day 5: Abeleiroas --> Negreira
    The legs should have held up yesterday but now with the backup day of 28km and again mostly in hills, let's see how the body performs.
